Honduran Ministry launches prison labor program to produce paving stones

The Honduran Ministry of Governance, led by Minister Marco Villeda, has started a "Manos Productivas" program that engages inmates from the Pavón, Pavoncito, Cantel and Canadá detention centers in the manufacture of concrete paving stones. The initiative aims to provide prisoners with work experience, reduce idle time, and support municipal infrastructure projects by supplying up to 800 pavers per center daily.

Under agreements with local municipalities, the produced pavers will be used for street repairs and other public works. Some inmates may also be allowed to assist with paving outside the facilities under strict security measures, further promoting skill development and gradual reintegration into society.
