Bolivia intercepts drug shipments and probes cocaine‑tainted wood cargo

Bolivian authorities seized multiple shipments suspected of carrying illegal drugs. In Tarija, the departmental prosecutor confiscated three trucks of wood slated for Uruguay and opened investigations after receiving tips that the wood might be impregnated with cocaine. Samples were sent to a specialized laboratory for analysis, and the prosecutor said the investigation remains ongoing.

In Potosí, the Special Force against Narcotrafficking (FELCN) seized 15 packages of marijuana from a green suitcase found in the luggage compartment of an inter‑departmental bus at the Llallagua terminal. Field tests confirmed the substance, and the case was handed to FELCN for further investigation to identify the source and intended destination.

At the border town of Puerto Quijarro, prosecutors collected samples from nine trucks carrying wood that had been detained after an international alert from Chile. Preliminary tests showed no controlled substances, but the samples were forwarded for definitive laboratory analysis. The trucks remain held pending the final report.
