Honduran President Asfura distances himself from consultant Cerimedo
Honduran President Nasry Asfura has distanced himself from former campaign advisor Fernando Cerimedo, who is currently detained in Bolivia. Asfura stated that while Cerimedo served as an advisor during his electoral campaign, any actions taken by the Argentine consultant in Bolivia or elsewhere are his sole responsibility and do not involve the Honduran government.
Separately, former Attorney General Johel Zelaya has criticized recent judicial rulings in Honduras. Zelaya questioned the acquittal of Mario Roberto Zelaya and José Ramón Bertetty in a case involving the violation of duties related to the administration of the Honduran Social Security Institute (IHSS). Zelaya suggested that the judiciary is being influenced by political interests, citing the acquittal as an example of ongoing impunity in high-impact corruption cases.
