Honduran President Nasry Asfura seeks cooperation in Italy
Honduran President Nasry Asfura conducted a series of diplomatic and economic meetings in Rome, Italy, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and addressing national development challenges. During a meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinal Palace, both leaders discussed enhancing diplomatic ties, trade, and investment opportunities.
Asfura met with officials from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to discuss strategies for combating drought, rising fertilizer and fuel costs, and food insecurity. The Honduran government proposed initiatives such as building water reservoirs, implementing water harvesting systems, and supporting small-scale farmers through the ‘Hambre Cero’ program.
Additionally, discussions with the Italo-Latin American Institute (IILA) focused on potential cooperation in satellite technology for agriculture, disaster prevention, telemedicine, and higher education. As part of his economic agenda, Asfura also met with representatives from Italian companies Dedalus and Leonardo, as well as Confcommercio Roma, to explore foreign investment and technological cooperation for Honduras.
