Honduran Supreme Court President denies selective justice claims

Wagner Vallecillo, president of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) in Honduras, has denied allegations of “selective justice” within the country’s judicial system. Vallecillo stated that legal processes are handled according to their order of entry, though certain cases involving individuals with delicate health conditions receive priority due to their urgent nature. He clarified that such prioritization does not constitute selective treatment.

Addressing criticisms regarding judges who have issued rulings in high-impact cases, Vallecillo defended judicial independence under the Constitution. He noted that investigations are underway to determine if external circumstances influenced the imposition of substitute measures in certain processes. Additionally, disciplinary proceedings are being maintained against judges who have been the subject of complaints.

Regarding the judiciary's finances, Vallecillo reported a pending debt from the Ministry of Finance totaling between 1,500 and 1,600 million lempiras, though he maintained that monthly transfers have been made punctually in accordance with the General Budget of the Republic.
