Honduran tourist dies in Machu Picchu Pueblo, Peru
José Andree Marcia Tercero, a 27-year-old Honduran tourist, died while visiting Machu Picchu Pueblo in the Cusco region of Peru. The incident occurred near the Puente de los Candados in the urban area of the town, rather than within the archaeological citadel itself.
According to Carlos Guizado, head of the Cusco Police Region, the young man was traveling with a group of friends when he suffered a sudden medical emergency. Although police coordinated his immediate transfer to the Machu Picchu Health Center, medical staff confirmed he had no vital signs upon arrival.
Preliminary reports suggest a possible cardiac arrest as the cause of death, though the Ministry of Public Affairs is conducting investigations to establish the exact circumstances. Authorities have noted other instances of tourists experiencing health complications in the area this year, advising travelers to undergo medical check-ups before undertaking physical excursions in the region due to its geographic characteristics.
