Honduran woman dies after jumping from moving bus during robbery

Norma Nicoll Ramírez Arteaga, a 26-year-old woman from Olanchito, Yoro, has died following a robbery on a public transport bus in Tegucigalpa.

On Tuesday, Norma Nicoll and her twin sister, María José Ramírez Arteaga, were traveling in a rapid transit bus when the vehicle was intercepted by robbers. In an attempt to escape the assault, both sisters jumped from the moving bus. While María José survived the impact, Norma Nicoll suffered a severe head injury after hitting the pavement.

After spending several days in critical condition and in a coma at Hospital Escuela, Norma Nicoll passed away on Thursday night. The incident has sparked widespread indignation and concern regarding insecurity within the public transportation system in Honduras. Authorities are currently conducting investigations to clarify the circumstances of the robbery and determine those responsible.
