Honduran youth athletes travel to Ecuador for Pan American Taekwondo Championship

Two young taekwondo athletes from Danlí, Honduras, have traveled to Quito, Ecuador, to compete in the Pan American Taekwondo Championship for children under 12. Jafeth Maradiaga, aged 10, will compete in the 40-kilogram category, while 11-year-old Jesús Adrián Vásquez Robles will participate in the under-30-kilogram category.

The athletes' participation was facilitated by financial support from President Nasry Asfura to cover travel and competition expenses. Their coach, Edgar Enrique Sánchez Hurtado, noted that this institutional backing is a significant first for the team following four months of intensive preparation, which included high-altitude training to adapt to the conditions in Ecuador.

Both competitors expressed high ambitions for the tournament, with Maradiaga aiming to gain international experience and Vásquez Robles seeking to secure gold medals for Honduras.
