Honduran youth representatives demand improvements in health and education

The 128 representatives of the XXIX Children's Congress in Honduras, representing students from all 18 departments, have called on the government to take concrete actions to guarantee children's rights. Their primary demands focus on improving access to health, education, potable water, housing, and infrastructure.

During a training session supported by UNICEF representatives, students participated in exercises to identify rights established in the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Using a fictional case study involving a girl named Sofía, the representatives analyzed how natural disasters, such as floods, can lead to the loss of access to schools, clean water, and medical services.

Specific representatives highlighted critical gaps, including the lack of medical attention due to closed health centers and the vulnerability of local infrastructure. The group intends to present their formal proposals during the scheduled children's parliamentary session on Tuesday, October 27.
