Honduras addresses theater restoration issues and Ecuador upgrades Piñas lighting

The Honduran government, through the Secretariat of Cultures, Arts and Peoples' Heritage (SECAPPH), is working to resolve inherited issues regarding the restoration of the Manuel Bonilla National Theater. The project, initiated in 2025 with an investment of approximately 45 million lempiras, faced technical and contractual difficulties due to its original structure.

A major issue involved the stage machinery (tramoya), where the winning bid of approximately 13 million lempiras was significantly lower than the technical estimate of 30 million lempiras. This led to execution failures, including the unauthorized dismantling of existing machinery that could not be replaced as planned.

In Ecuador, the government of President Daniel Noboa has completed a $170,000 electrical infrastructure and public lighting renovation on Manuel Ubiticio Avenue, a primary access route to Piñas in El Oro. The project, managed by the National Electricity Corporation (CNEL EP), included the installation of 60 transformers, 120 poles, and 120 LED lights to improve mobility and security for over 300,000 residents.
