Honduras and Ecuador address electoral reforms and judicial immunity

In Honduras, legislative efforts are underway to reform the electoral and judicial systems. Deputy Tomás Zambrano has introduced a bill aimed at modifying the regulations of the National Electoral Council (CNE) to expedite the transmission of election results and reduce post-election uncertainty.

In Ecuador, the National Electoral Council (CNE) has clarified the limits of electoral immunity for political candidates. Following a judicial inquiry regarding the ‘Goleada case’ involving money laundering allegations, the CNE confirmed that several individuals seeking local office in Guayaquil do not currently possess legal immunity. Official José Cabrera stated that immunity only applies once a candidate's qualification is finalized and legally firm, noting that preliminary registration does not provide judicial protection.
