Honduras legal updates: Appeals filed in Hernández corruption and military cases

In Honduras, legal proceedings continue regarding high-profile corruption and criminal cases. The Attorney General's Office (PGR) has announced its intention to appeal the dismissal of charges against former President Juan Orlando Hernández in the Pandora II case. This investigation involves the alleged misappropriation of approximately $10.7 million from public funds between 2010 and 2014, with claims that $2.3 million was used for political campaigning.

Separately, former military chief Roosevelt Hernández is facing ongoing legal challenges. The Court of Appeals in Francisco Morazán recently declared his amparo request inadmissible, meaning his criminal process for alleged crimes including incitement to discrimination and violation of fundamental rights will proceed. His defense has also filed an appeal against his formal processing.

In Paraguay, the Court has upheld maximum security measures for José Insfrán, rejecting defense arguments for a lower security regime during his ongoing trial.
