Honduras authorities report rise in bank account cybercrime
The Technical Agency for Criminal Investigation (ATIC) in Honduras has reported an increase in cybercrimes and fraudulent activities targeting citizens' bank accounts. Commissioner Ángel Murillo, director of ATIC, warned that criminal networks are evolving beyond traditional street robberies to focus on unauthorized access and fraudulent transactions to seize funds directly from bank accounts.
Investigations indicate that these criminal structures are becoming more complex, with some networks operating both within Honduras and internationally. In response to this shift toward digital theft, ATIC is reinforcing its financial and technological capabilities to better identify and dismantle these organized crime groups.
