Honduras extradites FBI Most Wanted fugitive Mario Flores Mejía

Honduran authorities have extradited Mario Roberto Flores Mejía, also known as Alexis Flores, to the United States to face charges for the 2000 kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of five-year-old Iriana DeJesus in Philadelphia.

Flores Mejía had been a fugitive for over 25 years and was previously listed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. He was apprehended on February 11, 2026, in a mountainous region of Lepaera, Lempira, following intelligence operations by Honduran authorities and international agencies.

The connection to the crime was established through DNA evidence matched via the Combined DNA Index System. Flores Mejía is now in U.S. custody to face legal proceedings in Pennsylvania.
