Honduras faces continued heavy rains and thunderstorms

Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected to continue across Honduras. According to the National Center for Atmospheric, Oceanographic, and Seismic Studies (Cenaos), a surface trough will increase cloud cover and trigger weak to moderate rainfall, with occasional heavy showers and electrical activity.

Precipitation is forecasted for the western, central, and southern regions of the country, with weak and isolated showers also expected in the north and east. These forecasts follow recent heavy rains in San Pedro Sula that caused flooding and swept away vehicles.

Authorities advise residents in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant, particularly during periods of high intensity. In the Gulf of Fonseca, waves may reach four feet, while the Caribbean coast expects waves between one and two feet. While maritime conditions remain within normal parameters for fishing and tourism, preventive measures are recommended.
