Honduras football experts criticize national team selection

Former Honduran national team players and coaches are criticizing the selection criteria and tactical decisions of the national football team.

Milton Jocón Reyes, current Motagua reserve coach, argued that the national team is failing to properly utilize local talent from the Liga Nacional by over-relying on players abroad. Reyes emphasized the need for serious, long-term processes and better development through reserve tournaments to prepare for future goals like the 2030 World Cup.

Similarly, former player Dani Turcios questioned the tactical deployment of specific players under coach José Molina. Turcios expressed disagreement with using Joseph Rosales and Clinton Bennett as right-backs, citing their specific profiles and technical characteristics. Turcios suggested that the coaching staff should include personnel with deeper knowledge of the local Honduran players to improve decision-making.
