Honduras government to appoint new Education Secretary next week
The Honduran government expects to announce a successor for the Secretary of Education next week, following the dismissal of Ivette Arely Argueta on October 30. Minister Junior Burbara indicated that President Nasry Asfura will likely make the appointment upon his return from an official trip.
In a public farewell, the former minister Ivette Arely Argueta expressed gratitude to the government, the educational community, and various civil society organizations for their support during her nearly ten-month tenure. She stated she is leaving with the satisfaction of having served the country with honesty and commitment.
The new leadership is expected to be established ahead of the 2027 school year. The government has not yet released details regarding the specific reasons for the recent cabinet changes.
