Honduras launches 2026‑2030 agricultural sector incentive strategy

The Government of Honduras, together with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and other international partners, unveiled the "Incentive Strategy for the Development of the Agro‑Food Sector 2026‑2030." The plan aims to boost productivity, modernise technology, improve climate resilience and expand financing for a sector that contributes about 12 % of Honduras' GDP and employs roughly 23 % of the workforce.

A National Technical Investment Table was created to coordinate the effort, led by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG) and the National Investment Council (CNI), with support from the Honduran Private Business Council, the National Cattle Federation, the Honduran Coffee Institute, and Banrural. Technical assistance is provided by FAO’s Mano de la Mano initiative, Heifer International, Vision Mundial, Aid in Action, Socodevi, Rikolto and Swisscontact. The strategy seeks to attract new investment, strengthen value chains and promote sustainable rural development.
