Honduran authorities have launched ‘Operation Vértice’ targeting a criminal organization known as ‘Los Coyotillos’. The operation involves the Public Ministry, the Special Operations Fiscal Unit (UFE), and the Technical Criminal Investigation Agency (ATIC), with support from the Military Police of Public Order (PMOP).

Five simultaneous raids were conducted in the departments of Copán and Cortés, specifically in La Unión, San Pedro de Copán, Cucuyagua, and San Pedro Sula. Law enforcement officials are searching for evidence related to various crimes reported in the country’s northwestern corridor.

Preliminary investigations link ‘Los Coyotillos’ to murder, drug trafficking, and the possession of prohibited weapons. One specific case under investigation involves an attempted murder in Cucuyagua on April 27, which authorities believe was carried out by members of this criminal structure.
