Honduras launches pilot registry to identify beneficial owners

The National Banking and Insurance Commission (CNBS) of Honduras has launched a pilot project for the Centralized Registry of Beneficial Owners (RCBF). This tool is designed to identify the natural persons who exercise effective ownership or control over companies and other legal structures.

Established under the Law of Transparency and Centralized Registry of Beneficial Owners, the mechanism aims to prevent the use of corporate entities for money laundering, terrorist financing, corruption, and other illicit activities. The initiative seeks to strengthen corporate transparency and combat organized crime by ensuring that even when ownership is held through complex legal structures, the ultimate beneficiaries can be identified.
