Honduras national football team faces selection disputes and Gold Cup goals

Francis Hernández, the sports director of the Honduran Football Federation (FFH), has addressed claims made by Olancho FC president Samuel García regarding player call-ups. Hernández clarified that while certain Olancho players have been included in a preliminary list for the upcoming FIFA dates against the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, this does not guarantee their final selection. The director noted that the players are currently part of a scouting and pre-selection process.

Separately, 18-year-old striker Dereck Moncada has expressed his commitment to helping the national team qualify for the Gold Cup. Moncada emphasized that achieving qualification is a shared responsibility among all players, regardless of age, and stated that the pressure of representing Honduras serves as motivation for his performance.
