Honduras: Pregnant woman and unborn baby killed in shotgun attack

A pregnant woman from La Mosquitia died at the Hospital Escuela in Tegucigalpa after being shot in the head with a shotgun. The attack, which also resulted in the death of her unborn baby, is being investigated by authorities as a potential femicide.

Preliminary reports suggest the incident occurred following a dispute with her partner, who arrived at the residence in an intoxicated state. The man allegedly demanded money the woman had saved for childbirth expenses. After a confrontation, the suspect reportedly shot the victim and fled the scene with the money.

The victim's body was sent to the Center of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of the Public Ministry for an autopsy. Police are currently conducting searches to locate the suspect, whose identity has not yet been released.
