Honduras President Nasry Asfura removes three high-ranking officials

President Nasry Asfura has accepted the resignations of three top government officials following performance evaluations based on management results. The removals include Ivette Arely Argueta, the Minister of Education, Emilio Maldonado, president of the Honduran Institute of Land Transport (IHTT), and Allan Castillo, manager of the Honduran Institute of Agricultural Marketing (IHMA).

Private Secretary Luis Castro stated that the changes are part of a continuous evaluation process to ensure officials meet institutional priorities and goals. Castro clarified that none of the removed officials have been accused of corruption, noting that the administration uses a performance semaphore system to monitor results. The government is currently evaluating candidates to fill the vacant positions.

The restructuring has received support from the Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (Cohep) and the Association for a More Just Society (ASJ). Both organizations emphasized the importance of meritocracy and efficiency in public institutions, suggesting that the President has the authority to remove leaders who do not meet expected standards.
