Honduras Public Ministry announces recruitment and salary disputes

The Public Ministry of Honduras has announced a recruitment process for auxiliary prosecutors, also known as Court Agents. The initiative aims to create a database of pre-qualified personnel for the 2027 selection process. Applications will be accepted from October 26 to October 30, 2026, at the Technological University of Honduras (UTH) campuses in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.

Candidates must be Honduran citizens over 21, hold a law degree, be members of the Honduran Bar Association, and have no criminal record or active political party affiliation. Required documentation includes professional solvency certificates, criminal and police records, and medical certifications.

Separately, the Association of Prosecutors of Honduras has raised concerns regarding compensation. Elky Alvarado, a board member of the association, stated that starting salaries of approximately 21,000 lempiras are insufficient given the rigorous selection process, the one-year probationary period, and the high level of responsibility involved in criminal investigations. The association is calling for dignified remuneration that reflects academic merit and professional experience.
