Central American nations commemorate Francisco Morazán
Central American nations are holding various commemorations to mark the 234th anniversary of the birth of General Francisco Morazán, a key figure in the history of the Federal Republic of Central America.
In Honduras, the military and government held ceremonies for the Day of the Soldier. President Nasry Asfura and the head of the Armed Forces, Héctor Benjamín Valerio, participated in events in Tegucigalpa, where Valerio expressed a desire to emulate Morazán’s courage and loyalty. In Texiguat, local communities honored the historical site that served as a headquarters for Morazán’s troops.
In El Salvador, government officials and the diplomatic corps attended a solemn ceremony at the newly inaugurated mausoleum in San Salvador’s Historic Center. Defense Minister René Francis Merino Monroy led the tribute, emphasizing Morazán’s legacy of regional unity and the shared history of Central American peoples.
