Honduras: Two MS-13 members ordered into preventive detention

A court in Choloma, Cortés, has ordered preventive detention for two members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, identified by the aliases ‘Héctor’ and ‘Alexis’. The individuals were apprehended by the Anti-Extortion and Terrorist Associations Division (DAET) in the Chilar neighborhood.

The suspects face charges of aggravated drug trafficking and aggravated illegal possession of firearms. During the September 9 operation, authorities seized two firearms with ammunition, 579 packages of suspected marijuana, 244 packages of suspected cocaine, and mobile phones.

The detainees will be held at the ‘La Tolva’ maximum-security prison in Morocelí, El Paraíso, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 4, 2026.
