Honey thriller series to premiere at MIPCOM Cannes

The Cold War thriller series ‘Honey’ is set to make its world premiere at MIPCOM Cannes on October 12. Produced by Sid Gentle Films, part of BBC Studios, the series is a collaboration between BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and ZDF.

Set in 1982 East Berlin, the darkly comedic series follows Martha, an MI6 deep-cover agent caught in a dangerous love triangle amidst a world of counterespionage. The production is associated with Fifth Season, which will handle global distribution.

The cast features Ann Skelly, Nate Mann, Jannis Niewöhner, and Rory Kinnear. Reports indicate the series serves as an origin story for the character Carolyn Martens, linked to the ‘Killing Eve’ franchise. The premiere will be followed by a Q&A session featuring key creators and cast members.
