Đỗ Hoàng Hên receives Vietnamese citizenship

Footballer Đỗ Hoàng Hên and his partner, Lais Machado, recently attended a ceremony at the Hanoi Department of Justice to formalize his Vietnamese citizenship. The couple, both originally from Brazil, have chosen to live and build their careers in Vietnam.

During the ceremony on October 17, 2025, the pair wore traditional Vietnamese áo dài. Machado noted the significance of the milestone, highlighting the long period of waiting and uncertainty Hoàng Hên faced before receiving his Vietnamese passport, which allows him to represent the national team.

Hoàng Hên is currently part of the Vietnam national team under coach Kim Sang-sik, preparing for the ASEAN Cup 2026 final against Thailand following a 2-0 victory at Rajamangala Stadium.
