Hong Hyun-seok joins FC Midtjylland on loan from Mainz

South Korean midfielder Hong Hyun-seok has joined Danish club FC Midtjylland on a one-year loan from German Bundesliga side Mainz 05. The move follows a period of limited playing time for Hong, who previously spent loan spells at Nantes in France and Gent in Belgium.

FC Midtjylland confirmed the signing, noting that Hong brings international experience and versatility to several attacking positions. The club's sporting director, Kristian Bach Vibsted, praised Hong's work rate, technical ability, and character, mentioning that the club's familiarity with Hong's profile comes through existing South Korean players Cho Gue-sung and Lee Han-beom.

Hong, who will wear number 20, expressed his desire to win the league title and progress in the Conference League. He noted that he looks forward to playing alongside his national teammate, Cho Gue-sung, at the club.
