Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts honors Tsui Hark and Ann Hui

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts held a ceremony on October 16 to confer honorary doctorates and fellowships upon six distinguished individuals for their contributions to arts and culture.

Renowned director Tsui Hark was awarded an honorary doctorate, recognizing his significant impact on the development of Hong Kong cinema and his support for film education. This honor follows his recent participation as a guest at the Lumière Film Festival in France. Director Ann Hui was conferred an honorary fellowship, marking her 50-year career in the industry. During the event, Hui expressed humility regarding the honor and reflected on her collaborations with legendary actors.

Other recipients of honorary fellowships included Cantonese opera artist Wu Yu-tin, choreographer Yeung Wan-to, Hong Kong Arts Festival administrator Yu Kit-yi, and modern dance choreographer Yu Yan-wah. Actress Brigitte Lin also attended the ceremony to support the honorees.
