Hong Kong actors debut in new stage productions

Actor Deng Tao attended a press conference for the upcoming stage play “Nessie” in Hong Kong, noting that the role required him to portray a singer with limited vocal talent, which made him nervous but excited. He praised co‑star Liu Qingyun for creating a relaxed atmosphere on set and for mentoring him during filming of the movie “The Vengeful Person”. Liu was earlier cited as having won a Best New Actor award.

Meanwhile, actor Luo Zhenye made his first foray onto the stage with the drama “Write‑Cannot‑You”. He admitted having no prior theatre experience and relied on his girlfriend Liao Ziyu to help rehearse his lines. Veteran actress Gu Zulin, at age 49, also joined a stage production, saying the story resonated with her own life circumstances and that she felt a strong connection to the material.
