Hong Kong actress Kara Wai discusses mental health struggles and workplace bullying

Hong Kong actress Kara Wai (Jiang Meiyi) has opened up about her past struggles with depression and panic disorder resulting from online harassment and workplace isolation. During recent appearances on talk shows, the veteran TVB actress revealed that after filming a romantic scene in the series ‘Sky of Love II’, she faced severe cyberbullying from viewers who criticized her age relative to her co-star.

Wai also detailed her difficult transition from ATV to TVB, describing a culture of factionalism and "cold violence." She stated that she felt treated like a "transparent person" due to internal company politics, which led to physical symptoms including insomnia, tremors, and difficulty breathing.

She credited her recovery to finding peace through Buddhist teachings and the support of colleagues, noting that she has learned to live by the principle of having a "clear conscience" rather than attempting to please everyone.
