AI and 5G demand drive record earnings for telecom and tech firms

Major telecommunications and technology companies reported strong performance driven by AI infrastructure and 5G demand. Taiwan’s three major telecom providers—Taiwan Mobile, Chunghwa Telecom, and Far EasTone—all saw significant growth in July. Taiwan Mobile reported a 17% increase in net profit, bolstered by record roaming revenue and AI data center business. Chunghwa Telecom achieved record revenue and EBITDA, supported by iPhone sales and ICT services. Far EasTone also reached record highs in revenue and EBITDA, driven by 5G upgrades and enterprise ICT projects.

In the technology and industrial sectors, Delta Electronics reported record July revenue of 67.07 billion TWD, a 47.7% year-on-year increase, fueled by rising demand for AI data center power supplies. Similarly, AAON reported record second-quarter sales, with net sales rising 101% year-over-year to $627 million. AAON’s growth was heavily supported by its BASX data center cooling business, which saw sales increase by 216.2% due to high demand for liquid-cooling products.
