Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee launches first regional consultation for 2026 five‑year plan
Chief Executive John Lee and senior ministers held the first regional consultation for Hong Kong’s 2026‑2030 five‑year development plan and the 2026 Policy Report in Tuen Mun on 2 August. The meeting, streamed live, used small‑group discussions to gather public views on the themes “Boosting the economy” and “Improving livelihoods”.
Since June the government has conducted more than 80 online and offline consultation sessions, engaging workers, business leaders, professionals, youth, retirees and ethnic minorities. Lee said the feedback will be compiled and fed into the final planning documents, emphasizing the university‑city development in the northern New Territories as a key driver of Hong Kong’s upgrade and integration with the Greater Bay Area.
