Hong Kong concludes public consultation for first five-year plan

Hong Kong has concluded the public consultation phase for its first-ever five-year plan. According to Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Tse Siu-wah, the government received over 16,000 suggestions and opinions from various sectors and backgrounds since the consultation began on June 15.

Analysis of the feedback indicates broad support for the initiative, with citizens expressing a desire for Hong Kong to better align with national strategic development goals. Key areas of interest include the development of the Northern Metropolis, the advancement of the “four centers and one highland” strategy, and various livelihood issues such as housing, healthcare, education, and social welfare.

The government utilized artificial intelligence to integrate and analyze the collected data. The administration aims to publish the first Hong Kong five-year plan by September this year. This planning process coincides with efforts to strengthen Hong Kong’s status as a global financial center, particularly through the expansion of offshore yuan products and fintech innovation.
