Hong Kong Counterfeit Luxury Watches Worth $54M Seized in Kentucky

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized a consignment at the Port of Louisville, Kentucky, that contained 375 counterfeit luxury watches branded as Audemars Piguet. The parcel originated in Hong Kong and was addressed to a residential address in New York. If authentic, the watches would have a combined manufacturer’s suggested retail price of more than $54 million.

Louisville Port Director Philip Onken said intellectual‑property theft undermines the U.S. economy and often finances organized crime, and CBP stressed that counterfeit trafficking is one of the most lucrative forms of transnational crime. The agency noted that e‑commerce growth has increased small‑parcel shipments, with over 90 % of counterfeit seizures occurring in international mail and express courier channels. CBP previously intercepted similar Hong Kong‑origin shipments in Louisville in late 2025, including counterfeit watches valued at $6.6 million and $2.57 million.
