Hong Kong Disneyland visitor pleads guilty to merchandise theft

A 43-year-old man, Zhou Chao, pleaded guilty to nine counts of theft at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts following an incident at Hong Kong Disneyland. On August 31, Zhou stole 75 items from nine different stores within the resort, including plush toys, headbands, handbags, and keychains.

The total value of the stolen merchandise was approximately HK$12,905 (roughly $1,645 USD). The defendant, a former teacher who had been unemployed for two months, attributed his actions to “momentary greed.” All stolen items were recovered, and the court imposed a fine of HK$10,000 (approximately $1,275 USD).
