Hong Kong emerges as gateway for mainland tech firms amid record IPO and Fed‑rate outlook

Hong Kong is being promoted as a financing hub for mainland China’s technology companies. Policy papers and the Hong Kong government’s “Financial Technology 2030” blueprint outline new data, AI, resilience and tokenisation projects, while the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Shenzhen’s local financial regulator have signed a joint action plan to deepen Hong Kong‑Shenzhen fintech cooperation. The city’s strong capital‑raising capacity is highlighted by the upcoming listing of Zhongji Innolight, a Chinese maker of optical transceivers for AI data centres, whose debut will raise about US$8 billion – the largest Hong Kong IPO in seven years.

The market will also react to the US Federal Reserve’s rate decision, with new Fed chair Kevin Warsh expected to adopt a hawkish tone. Investors are watching whether the Fed holds rates or signals tighter policy, as both actions could affect Treasury yields and technology‑stock valuations across the region, adding further uncertainty to Hong Kong’s equity market.
