Hong Kong expects 7.44 million travelers during National Day Golden Week

Hong Kong authorities expect approximately 7.44 million people to enter or exit the city via land, sea, and air during the National Day Golden Week holiday from October 1 to October 7. Of this total, about 6.31 million travelers are projected to use land border control facilities.

Peak travel periods are anticipated on October 3 for departures and October 4 for arrivals. Major land checkpoints, including Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, and Shenzhen Bay, are expected to experience heavy congestion, with daily averages ranging from 150,000 to 220,000 travelers. To manage the influx, the Immigration Department is increasing inspection counters and deploying additional security and frontline personnel.

In preparation for increased cross-border movement, authorities are also focusing on the upcoming launch of the new Huanggang Port. This modern integrated transport hub aims to provide a seamless experience by allowing travelers to complete both Hong Kong and mainland China immigration procedures simultaneously through cooperative self-service channels.
