Hong Kong friendship ends in restraining order over elderly affair

A 20-year friendship between two women in Hong Kong has collapsed following a dispute involving an 83-year-old man. The conflict was featured on the Hong Kong television program ‘Scoop’.

According to Ah Li, a 70-year-old woman, her long-time friend Ah Zhen, aged 60, began a relationship with Ah Li’s partner, an 83-year-old man named Quan. Ah Li reported that Ah Zhen admitted to the affair and boasted about her own assets. After discovering the betrayal, Ah Li ended her relationship with Quan.

The dispute escalated over three years, with Ah Li alleging that Ah Zhen harassed her and caused damage to her business, including breaking a display case and damaging a phone. Consequently, Ah Li sought a restraining order against Ah Zhen. Ah Zhen has offered a different account, accusing Ah Li of maintaining contact with Quan after Ah Zhen married him.
