Hong Kong implements street beautification and anti-skid road designs
The Highways Department has recently completed street beautification works in the Lan Kwai Fong area of Central, Hong Kong. On Tak Hing Street, the road surface now features a stone-imitation pattern applied to an anti-skid dressing. This design aims to balance urban aesthetics with traffic safety by providing slip resistance without distracting drivers.
In addition to street improvements, the Drainage Services Department has installed over 250 specially designed manhole covers across various Hong Kong landmarks, including Wan Chai Blue House, Central Pier, and Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier. These covers incorporate local cultural elements to enhance the city's visual identity and have become popular points of interest for both residents and tourists.
