Hong Kong insurance sector expands healthcare support and risk management

Sun Life Hong Kong Limited has launched a new premium healthcare ecosystem designed to provide patients with administrative and medical support prior to treatment. In collaboration with CUHK Medical Centre, Gleneagles Hong Kong, and HKSH Medical Group, the initiative utilizes the eSun Pro medical concierge service to offer pre-treatment planning, specialist referrals, second medical opinions, and appointment coordination across the consultation, treatment, and recovery stages.

Separately, Hong Kong’s Insurance Authority (IA) announced plans to strengthen the city’s position as a risk management hub. Following the city’s Five-Year Plan, the IA aims to nurture ecosystems for captives and insurance-linked securities, develop specialty insurance for commodities such as precious metals, and expand the underwriting capacity of the Marine Specialty Risk Pool. The authority also intends to advance its AI Cohort Programme and enhance regulatory collaboration to support cross-boundary insurance offerings.
