Nansun Shi memorial gathers Hong Kong film legends

Veteran Hong Kong producer Nansun Shi, 75, died on 13 July 2026 after a bacterial infection caused multiple‑organ failure. A memorial service titled “Nansun An Ge ENCORE NANSUN” was held on 2 August 2026 in the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong ballroom. Around 500 friends, family and industry partners attended, including ex‑husband director Tsui Hark, who helped organise the event and produced a short tribute film. Prominent figures such as Lin Qingxia, Chow Yun‑fat, Tony Leung Chiu‑wai, Carina Lau, Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Brigitte Lin, George Lam, Sally Yeh, Eric Tsang, Derek Tsang, Kenny Bee and many others paid their respects. International film‑festival heads from Cannes, Busan and Columbia Pictures also delivered eulogies, highlighting Shi’s role in promoting Hong Kong cinema worldwide. A commemorative website and online photo album were launched, showcasing rare images from Shi’s 75‑year life and career. The ceremony underscored her lasting impact on the Chinese‑language film industry and the deep personal bonds she forged across the region.
