Hong Kong police arrest two men for MTR depot graffiti vandalism

Two men in their 30s were arrested at Hong Kong International Airport after allegedly breaking into the MTR Chai Wan depot to spray-paint graffiti on a parked train. Police reported that the suspects cut through barbed wire fencing to enter the facility and left behind tools, including spray paint cans, a wooden ladder, and high-visibility vests. The graffiti consisted of two murals, each measuring one metre by five metres.

The suspects, who were reportedly bound for the United States and Australia, were apprehended in the airport departure hall while waiting to board their flights. Police noted that the clothing worn during the alleged offense was discovered in their luggage. Authorities emphasized that trespassing into railway networks is a serious crime that can endanger personal safety and disrupt train services.

Reports indicate that one of the suspects, an Australian man identified as Paul Han, may have a history of similar activities. He was previously arrested in Tokyo, Japan, in 2019 for trespassing and graffiti in a subway depot, and was also involved in a similar incident in Baku, Azerbaijan, in 2024.
