Hong Kong Police College to launch international academy and degree program

To mark its 20th anniversary, the Hong Kong Police College has announced two major initiatives aimed at enhancing professional standards and international influence. On November 11, the college will establish the ‘Hong Kong International Police College’ to serve as a global platform for professional policing exchange. This institution aims to leverage the Hong Kong Police Force’s experience in large-scale event security and crime fighting to attract overseas law enforcement agencies for training in areas such as forensic science, cybercrime investigation, and crowd management.

Additionally, the college will launch its first government-awarded degree program, a ‘Bachelor of Policing (Honours) in Security and Criminal Investigation,’ starting in March next year. The program is designed for non-degree-holding rank-and-file officers and will be fully funded by the police force. Successful candidates must commit to at least two years of service upon completion. The curriculum will be delivered bilingually, combining internal instructional expertise with academic courses provided by local higher education institutions.
