Hong Kong Premier League clubs prepare for new season

As the new Hong Kong Premier League season approaches, football clubs are finalizing rosters and addressing administrative issues.

Hong Kong Kowloon City held a pre-season press conference where Chairman Mak Yung-bun addressed recent reports regarding unpaid Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) contributions. Mak clarified that the issue stemmed from administrative and clerical errors rather than intentional deception, stating that the club has since coordinated with the MPF Board and players to settle the outstanding amounts. The club also announced it is negotiating to use the Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground as its home venue starting in November.

Meanwhile, Eastern SC is preparing for a campaign aimed at challenging for top positions. Following a solid debut season in the Premier League, the club has bolstered its squad with ten new players, focusing heavily on offensive reinforcements. The team aims to improve its scoring efficiency while maintaining the defensive stability that saw them concede the fewest goals in the league last season.
