Hong Kong records second‑wettest July as heavy rains flood Yuen Long farms

On 2 August 2026 an Amber Rainstorm Warning was issued for about seven hours. Torrential downpours caused severe flooding at Shun Sum Yuen Farm in San Tin, Yuen Long, submerging its sunflower fields and turning the farmland into an inland sea. Farm staff waded through calf‑deep water, and the batch of sunflowers scheduled for public display was likely lost, highlighting the immediate agricultural impact of the extreme weather.
