Hong Kong Science Park Opens First PIC/S GMP‑Certified Stem Cell Facility

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) hosted the HKSTP Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) Showcase 2026 at the Charles K. Kao Auditorium, bringing together more than 200 representatives from healthcare, academia, investment and regulatory sectors. At the event the company announced that its partner, Hong Kong Regen Medtech Limited (HKRM), has become the first facility in Hong Kong to be recognised by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Hong Kong (PPBHK) as an allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) manufacturing site certified to PIC/S GMP standards, enabling the production of advanced therapy products for clinical trials.

HKSTP CEO Terry Wong said the certification marks a significant milestone for Hong Kong’s life‑and‑health‑tech ecosystem, meeting the highest international safety standards and allowing patients to access locally manufactured cell‑therapy products with confidence. HKSTP highlighted its role in supporting the ecosystem through seed funding, incubation space, world‑class infrastructure and regulatory assistance to help companies move from laboratory research to clinical translation.
