Hong Kong suspends poultry imports from parts of Denmark and USA
The Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has implemented an immediate suspension on the importation of poultry meat and products, including eggs, from specific regions in Denmark and the United States.
The decision follows notifications from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) regarding highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza outbreaks. The affected areas include the municipality of Lolland in Denmark and Jackson County in the state of Minnesota, USA.
Authorities stated the measure is intended to protect public health in Hong Kong. The CFS is in contact with Danish and American officials and will continue to monitor updates from WOAH and relevant competent authorities regarding the outbreaks.
