Hong Kong television stations face sitcom competition

Hong Kong's television landscape is seeing increased competition between major broadcasters as new sitcoms prepare to launch. HOY TV is set to premiere its new sitcom, ‘Your Security, Li Bo-on’, on October 26. The production features Kong Ka-man in her first sitcom role, where she performs alongside rising stars Wong Yiu-fung and Ip Chun-hung.

Meanwhile, TVB's long-running sitcom, ‘Come Home Love: Lo and Behold’, is facing internal drama. Actress Ng Yeuk-hei's character has been written out of the show, being relocated to a remote area. This plot development follows public speculation regarding Ng's social media activity involving a rival station's content. Co-star Che Tse clarified that the character's departure is a scripted storyline involving a job transfer, rather than a permanent exit, noting that the character may return after meeting specific performance milestones.

The shift in programming highlights a growing rivalry for prime-time viewership between the two stations.
